As imagination bodies forth the form of things unknown,
[the pen]  gives to nothing a local habitation and a name.

Gòlfand  &  Likhtman,  in the USSR.   Wess  &  Zumino,  in the West.

For me,  Yuri Abramovich Gòlfand remains not only a teacher of craft,
but also the man who gave me a taste for walking the road less traveled.

Evgeny P. Likhtman  (Minneapolis, 2000)  Thirty years of Supersymmetry

In 1970,  Evgeny Pinkhasovich Likhtman (b. Jan. 12, 1946, Moscow, Russia) and Yuri  Gòlfand  (1922-1994)  constructed the first super-extension of the Poincaré algebra in four dimensions, published in ...

 Come back later, we're
 still working on this one...

Because of the  Cold War,  their work would remain unknown in the West for a long time.  Supersymmetry would thus be discovered independently a few years later,  by Wess and Zumino.

In 1974,  Julius Wess  and  Bruno Zumino  produced a  supersymmetric model  .../...
