Bitcoin is the first successful implementation of the concept of crypto-currency
which uses reliable cryptography not only to secure its transfer but also to regulate its creation
without relying on any central authority.
As crypto-currency is accepted in exchange for goods and services, it becomes
a form of money. Bitcoins have thus achieved the status of a true monetary unit
(abbreviated BTC) albeit a very volatile one...
